Avalon Park:  In the past, Māori used waka (canoes) just as we use cars today and New Zealand’s waterways were like roads.  Come and join Te Rōpu Āwhina of Victoria University and Hutt City Libraries to use waka rockets to test Newton's third law - for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

You will be using a pump (action) to cause a pressure build up, which will cause the rocket waka to move (reaction). The more water we put into the rocket waka, the faster it goes.

Suitable for all ages. Parental supervision advised for younger children.

For more information, visit or pop into your local library.
